I love the feel and texture of books. Sometimes even the smell of them. But I often read books the way I listen to music. I read what I'm in the mood for at that moment. So I regularly find myself in the middle of several books at the same time. For the sake of my back, a Kindle is a wonderful book version of a music player where I can move through a carousel of books and see what I want to read today.....

WISH LIST

This has been recommended to me by a friend. It apparently helps in the understanding of Agile processess. That is something I could find useful.....

The Phoenix Project: A Novel About IT, DevOps, and Helping Your Business Win by Gene Kim, Kevin Behr, George Spafford

I saw this mentioned in Brain Pickings with a photo from the reviwer's copy which is covered with page markers. Definitely a book I need to investigate.

IN THE ROTATION

By chance many happen to be science fiction and mystery combinations! My two favorite genres meshed together, plus it's what I was in the mood for recently. Besides self-evolution, which are all listed in the life-changing section (my previous pull). Books are like music for me. At any given opportunity I read (or listen to) whatever I am in the mood for. Hence a rotation......

THE NO. 1 LADIES' DETECTIVE AGENCY by Alexander McCall Smith

This series came back to mind I'm not sure how.  I REALLY REALLY enjoyed the HBO series with Jill Scott.  Haven't seen it in forever but when it came back to mind, I bought several of the books for my Kindle since I never actually read them before seeing the HBO series.  This is the first in the series and my starting point.  I love the characters and the vivid and insightful writing.

HIDDEN GENIUS: The Black Engineer Behind Howard Hughes by H. T. Bryer

I was introduced to this story and book in a Facebook group.  The summary was written by the poster, Negus Dawit:  "Frank’s life story is one of the great untold stories of human accomplishment. Frank was a friend of and a troubleshooting engineer for Howard Hughes for nearly fifty years. He was a brilliant aeronautical and aerospace engineer, award winning sport car designer, Primary Civilian Instructor for the Tuskegee Airmen ,WWII officer in the Army Air Corps etc.etc. Howard Hughes’ white engineers would not work with Frank, a Black man, so when problems arose Howard would dismiss them and smuggle Frank into the work area, hidden under blankets or in the back of a panel truck (thus the book title). When Frank and Howard had worked out all of the design problems, Frank would quietly go back to his home or hotel room where one of Howard’s runners would deliver payment to him. When the white engineers would arrive back at the project they would be surprised to find that the amazing Howard Hughes had worked out all of the problems."

The God Patent by Ransom Stephens

This incredible book is my current read.  I'm half-way through this book and I had to put it down to catch my breath! Don't be put off by the title. Science Fiction. Science (physics), Technology, Computers, a bit of a mystery, psychology, philosophy, theology. And as a former EE myself, the protagonist who went through a major career change was close to home! It explores some amazing physics and technology concepts. And the characters are very interesting. This book is AMAZING!

The Atlantis Gene by A. G. Riddle

I looked forward to reading the second book in the trilogy of the Three Body Problem but the english translation was delayed.  I was in a mystery, order and method reading mood and this book was recommended by a friend. This too is part of a trilogy called Origins Mystery trilogy which may be made into a movie series. Book one was a wild amazing ride!  Haven't made it to the second in the series yet.  I was side-tracked by The God Patent (and, you know, work).  I do have the trilogy on my Kindle now.  When I return to the series, I may have to re-read this book before reading the second.

The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu

This is a mind blowing science fiction book which I happened upon because someone posted about it on Facebook. Science, Physics, Engineering, Computers, Philosophy, History and Psychology AND it's basically structured as a mystery you unravel as you read, all wrapped up in an incredible Sci-Fi package! Just a smorgasboard for my brain (It's not easy to melt my brain but THIS has been doing it!). Not to mention the challenge of some cultural specifics which the translator was smart enough to put notes in to give you background. It was incredible!  I haven't made it to the second book in the series because it was delayed, I moved to the Atlantis Gene and then to a bunch of other books.  But I will get back to this series!  I do have the second book on my Kindle.  (I may have to re-read this book when I get to the second in the series.)
